What Does a Signing Agent Do?

The Signing Agent performs a specific function they meet with the borrower at a designated location, and they ensure that the borrower initials, dates and signs the loan documents in all the correct places. Then, they have the role of notarizing the borrower’s signature. What Notary Signing Agents Must Never Do:


1) Offer advice about the loan
2) Give the signer(s) an opinion on any of the information contained in the documents to be signed
3) Notarize a signing for which they have a vested financial interest (other than the payment received for performing the duty)
4) Notarize their own signature.

Notary Travel Fees



Regular hours for travel fees are
Monday thru Friday 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Fees are calculated for miles traveled from 90301. Up to 5 miles $15.00

5 to 15 miles $ 30.00

15 to 30 miles $45.00

30 to 50 miles $60.00

50 miles or more $80.00


After Hour Travel Fees


Fees in this section are for notarizations performed outside of regular hours (9:00 am to 6:00 pm). An additional $20.00 fee is added for notarizations completed during the weekend.

Regular Hours Weekend Example: Appointment time 10 am on Saturday,

3 signatures are required within a 10-mile radius from 90301.

3 Signatures ($15.00 each) - $45.00 Travel Fee - $30.00 Weekend Fee - $20.00 Total = $95.00

After Hours Weekend Example: Appointment time 7 pm on

Saturday, 3 signatures are required within

a 10-mile radius from 90301.

3 Signatures ($15.00 each) - $45.00

6:00 am to 9:00 am $15.00
